I kind of hate myself for enjoying this show, and yet I was happy to see it unexpectedly pop up on my DVR last night. The fake drama is completely ridiculous, and after the first 15 minutes I just fast forward through it, but I love seeing the dancing. More dancing!

Yeah, vault especially does not work well with the current scoring system. Since you can get a high score and even medal with a horrible fall just because your start value is so high, it encourages gymnasts to chuck dangerous skills that should they should not be performing outside of a pit!

There were 5 ties in gymnastics this year (3 in women's, 2 in men's). There were 2 in 2008, so this year was definitely an outlier. I hope they change the rules again. In World Championships, ties are allowed. Why not Olympics? It's ridiculous. If the gymnasts tie, just let it be a tie. If nothing else, it should be

Oh, I will mention that college gymnastics still does the old scale where you can truly get a perfect 10. There were a few this past season.
