Neither of the names are weird. Esmeralda and Amada are popular Spanish names (and both are very pretty IMO). Amada means “beloved.” Esmeralda means “emerald” and it’s actually climbing the ranks, popularity-wise, in the U.S.

I guess Amada was Eva’s grandmother’s name so I can see the reason behind using it in both names.
