Here is another reel I just put up. This film was not a blue and orange color palette.

I can assure you this film is not dark blue the entire time.
I have people who have been saying that is was misleading for starting with the log image. The reality is that I start with the log image when I grade so my only intent was to show where I actually start and where I actually end up. :-)
Thanks! It's a lot of fun!
They shot in log to be able to have options to where they could push the image. They also had a very tight shooting schedule and knew doing this would allow them room to correct error after the shooting was completed.
Any director of photography that works with a skilled colorist will assure you that they would never dispense of their colorist.
In the case of this film, I was never shown anything from on set so I actually worked directly with the flat look to create everything.
This is due to the shooting format. The film was recorded in what is called a LOG format which, in a sense, flattens the image to maintain details and colors. This then allows me, as the colorist, creative room to stretch the image out to where I want it to be. All high end digital cameras have the ability to record…
Yes, shooting day for night is certainly something that has to be shot correctly and finessed.
They aren't all teal and orange! But yes, some of the walls are literally painted teal and the skin… Well, it's skin.
Thank you, Internet.
