Apparently there the police had been called to they home 3 times for suicide attempts. This was not an entirely new scenario for these folks.

I think what blows my mind is there is nothing children or spouses can really do when they have an abusive or unstable adult in the household. Mentally unstable/emotionally abusive people are pros at making everything look normal to the public.

I’m not saying that was the right thing to say in the situation, but it sounded like she had a history of suicide attempts and was threatening to kill both the daughters and herself. I think he was asking her to spare the children from her suicide, or possibly trying to redirect her anger to him.
