I agree that the context improves it. But E3 came out first. The animated series improved the characterization by retcon. Most people who saw E3 in the theater never bothered to watch Clone Wars. Movies need stand on their own and work w/o the need for ‘further research.’

You left out one reason: it makes you uncomfortable. I am pretty sure that there’s a ton of people flying/wearing Confederate flags simply because it rustles the jimmies of decent human beings (or that’s their intent, anyway), and they get off on that. Exactly. Anybody who says something like that clearly doesn’t have any real-life experience. People think Japan is progressive because so much of it’s pop culture seems like it, but the culture is actually is very conservative.
