From what I've read most recently, they weren't constantly hounding him, he asked them if there was anything they'd like to do, and they both separately said they wanted a character based on Sting. So he created one. They provided the impetus, but he still created the character.

Depends on whether the readers call for it, really. There are a LOT of books to cover just in the main chronology, and it'll take us into 2013. We'll evaluate once we're closer.

That's… kind of weird. Wouldn't killing Desire end your relationships with Death and Dream? Why not kill Despair?

To this day, I remain surprised that P. Craig Russell decided to re-do the art on "Dream Hunters," which already had staggeringly gorgeous art, rather than tackling one or more of the early, more crudely drawn books. Or all of them. To this day, I think there'd be a market for old Sandman books (or even individual

It actually is mystical embroidery, both phenomenally artistic and with weird powers like foretelling the future through thread. But, yes, it's a weird power set: Two dudes with mind powers, and a girl with super-sewing. Still, advantage goes to her: Her power isn't immensely painful and taxing the way theirs are.

@avclub-7e1ce4ce3124fd9ecc13a151afcff11b:disqus Mostly true, but not always, and those commentary tracks are what we're always hoping for when we do this column. Check out the one on Equilibrium, where the director spent nearly the whole commentary talking about how much he loved the film and what a shitty job he did

This isn't a review of the film (which I thought was pretty serviceable and even downright fun in places, but didn't love) — it's a CTOTD column. Listing the problems with the film up front is part of the column format, explaining why this film qualifies for this column. The rest is just an explanation of the

Some people identify him. Judging from the comments here, a great many people don't, because the movie is so mean-spirited toward everyone who isn't him, and so inconsistent about how it wants the audience to see him and feel about him. That's what makes it a confused, flawed, frustrating movie.

As I said, it's about going after everyone who isn't white, male, and middle-class, not just everyone who isn't white. Poor white people? Obnoxious, whiny, lazy assholes. Rich white people? Loud, smarmy, entitled assholes. Working-class white people? Chirpy, passive-aggressive assholes. Etc.

See the thread one page back. Douglas isn't presented as a hero; he's a nut, and he's unequivocably victimizing his terrified wife. But Duvall isn't active or effective as a hero, whereas the audience is openly invited to sympathize with Douglas' frustrations about the ugliness and oppressiveness of modern life, and

Someone provided a link above that's worked for other non-US residents. Give that a whirl.
