Yes. Instead of being on the street by the Hideout, the stage was in the massive parking lot adjacent to the street. It was much bigger, and there was a much, MUCH larger space for the audience. And that left the street open for beer and wine tents.

I've never heard of anyone contesting his claim. Plenty of people have drawn their own shorts, certainly, but not full feature animated films. I'd definitely love to know if you have a counter-example.
