I hugely enjoyed "Emperor Mollusk." Review linked above. And I've heard really good things about James Maxey's "Nobody Gets The Girl," which is next up on my reading list.

Ridley Scott says it isn't necessarily. See the Spoiler Space for more info on that.

I think that's a big part of it. I watched the first verse of this, where the Roots are mostly just waiting, and thought "What's the big deal?" Then they all joined in and I instantly teared up. There's something about watching people have fun while creating something that's really special, and watching them be silly

That's explicitly spelled out in supertitles. They find the last cave painting in 2089, they wake up from hypersleep in 2093. "Alien" takes place in 2122.

Lindelof and Scott have been clear enough that this is not an Alien prequel, it's a speculative offshoot.

I'm not convinced that the liquid he drank at the beginning was the exact same stuff. Maybe it's just bioreactive and reacted differently to him than the black goo reacted to humans (though why would it, if their DNA is identical?), but it appeared more silvery to me, and had visible jewel-like things in it.

Dammit, now I want to see that film, where David turns into the placid experimental villain, finding out what the goo does and responding to the eventual hysterical accusations with "I thought you wanted to know what purpose your gods had for you. They created this stuff and intended to take it to earth, so the only

Trying to figure out what the hell the liquid was for was my major gripe with the film. The assumption seems to be that it's going to be used to wipe out life on earth, but it doesn't even kill Logan Marshall-Green, it just gives him a mild case of tentacle-eye and starts mutating him somehow. He makes Theron set him

Can't answer all your questions, @avclub-0b42e2fbb64a053aa3ec5c8b75926ae3:disqus , but a few of those didn't throw me at all.
