I absolutely feel the conflict: as a hardcore Beatles fan, I cherished every second spent with them (though I’ve only finished Ep 1 so far), while the rest of my family watching with me clearly hit points of extreme disinterest. But for me, those special moments - Paul coming up with Let it Be or Get Back, George’s

I didn’t realize that the number of screens capable of showing the full 1.43 version was so small. I was fortunate to catch it at one of the 12 and while it was fortunately not distracting, I definitely noticed that the aspect ratio changed almost from shot to shot in sections of the movie.

Just so - caught it at U-H last Saturday. It was incredible.

I had seen Dune twice in regular theaters but caught it again last weekend on the second-largest IMAX screen in Virginia; I was a big nerd and got there absurdly early to ensure a primo seat (2/3 of the way back, dead-center side to side).

I generally concur - I don’t love the standard Will Ferrell persona - but I will watch Elf a million times and still love it.

I wrote a review for Road House when it came out and said, “This is a movie where muscular men beat on each other, attractive blonde women take their tops off, and cars explode. If that sounds appealing to you, you’re going to love this movie. If not...run.”

Um, did you mean “flue”?

My ex-wife discovered a third: never use yogurt in your mashed potatoes.

Bleh.

From the smell of him, the guy sitting next to me in the theater when I saw it Wednesday night would disagree with you...

JFC this is like the tedious “I don’t understand the Cars universe it doesn’t make any SEEEENNNSE” bs.

Setting up 2FA seems to be broken. I enter a phone number to text a code to and hit “continue” and it just sits there, nothing happens.

Wonder if everyone’s trying to do the same thing at the same time.

In my defense, I did realize the issue almost immediately. I already was set up with Paypal, and got Venmo right after.

Now who sounds old - you can’t deposit a check on your phone? OOOOLLLDDD! :-D

I offered to write a co-worker a check for something and he looked at me like I’d offered to pay him in shiny rocks and bear claws.

That’s not what I’m talking about. I have turned those off.

I’d love a setting to turn off the auto-start when I navigate to a movie or show. Sometimes I just need to get it set up and ready, but am waiting for popcorn to finish or someone to get off their phone call...

One that bugs the snot out of me, that seems to be misused more and more frequently these days, is “when” vs. “whenever”. I hear, for example, “whenever I was a kid” - “whenever” being used for specific times.

Agree; I think part of that for me is that Fellowship seems the most committed to the source material. I feel like the further Jackson went, the more he felt the need to make changes - some of which I agree with, some not so much.

Kinda surprised the first Nightmare on Elm Street isn’t on here. Freddy became a bit of a joke, like a lot of the slasher-series characters, but the first one is a surprisingly tense and creepy movie that relies on suspense more than gag killings.

Phase IV came out when I was around 11 years old and the poster sank its hooks into me. I saw the movie and while I don’t remember most of it, the ending burned into my memory. Might have been the first movie I ever saw that had a less-than-happy ending.
