I'm surprised The Son is actually filmed in Texas. About time. Hell on Wheels was filmed in southern Alberta as was Fargo Seasons 1&2. The western movie Slow West was filmed in New Zealand.

Lonesome Dove was so well received because most of the actors were from the south or had made many westerns plus excellent writing helps. They stuck with late 1880's dialect. Most current period series movies use 2017 hairstyles speech and it consistently portrays an ingenuine film making laziness. Fans are smarter

I am a big western genre fan with Hell on Wheels filmed on my back doorstep. Sadly The Son really flops on too many levels. Firstly only authentic Texan accent is brilliant young actor playing young Eli. Pierce appears to not like the script anymore than I did; his heart is not in it at all. And it shows. The scope

Exactly. that's why so many westerns are made in Alberta Canada. Combination beautiful scenery and they get a generous film tax credit. Not to mention Canadian dollar is very low compared to US right now so bonus for film makers. TV series; Fargo and Hell on Wheels are both filmed entirely there.

I think they hired 8 extras for entire movie. The native village had 4 people in it..lol.

James Mitchum looked identical to dad Robert. However he never tried to BE Robert Mitchum. I give him cred for that.Actually Chris now looks a lot like the older Robert too.

That story is false. The minute he came to Hollywood from Hawaii he took the 'Eastwood' name so did sister Kathryn. Scott is also approx 5'7" tall contrary to his bio of 5'11'.

Walton must have gotten paid damn well to agree to this pos movie.

Michael Fassbender was great in Slow West. Only problem for me; I knew it was made in New Zealand so I couldn't imagine it being in Colorado. What's with having to make westerns everywhere but the US?

Your critique on this movie is bang on. In every shot Scott Eastwood's hair is perfectly coiffed and Alberta scenery is amazing. Scott always seems so disinterested. It's like he thinks' I want to be famous but don't like the work'. It is the worst movie I've seen in memory. In fact it was difficult to stay focused
