Also, by phrasing it this way, she’s asking us to have sympathy for how young and vulnerable she was. But by that same token wouldn’t we have more sympathy for 8 year old JD?

Not to take away from your point because I agree entirely, but females are not immune to internet crazy - alt health, anti-vaxx moms are pretty deranged. They are dangerous because they collect online and normalize their stupid beliefs and behaviours.

Because people find child sexual abuse a lot more horrific than inappropriate behaviour amongst adults.

In my late teens and 20s I tried to read some self-help and found it pretty abusive. I think some of those authors are probably just narcissists and sociopaths who conned their way into celebrity.
