They never quit. My parents have one, we bought it in DC in 2002 and road tripped it back to MN without issue (well those hills in West Virginia were a bit sketchy). They take it on roadtrips most summers, they’ve done Traverse City, MI and back, and they took it all the way around Lake Superior a few years ago.  in

They are also notoriously slow, so in a big city where 2 miles takes half an hour, they probably do just fine.

Except for the brakes.  They are terrible to work on.

dammit!

you can even make a motorbike out of them

Fragile they are not.

Know a dude that just did the Peking to Paris’s in one, and came back in one piece - him/co-driver and the vehicle.   I had the same reaction.

I had the same reaction when I read that. A 2CV... fragile and fiddly? Even a classic DS isn’t fragile (you could argue fiddly), but a 2CV is neither fragile nor fiddly. They are designed to (and will) run at max rpm for ages and they can be repaired with nothing but a hammer (and ductape and WD-40) by a blind monkey.

About twenty years ago I was looking to buy a Sera just that colour. Went with an FTO instead.

Can’t help thinking that two hinges and a strut give a very similar effect.

Germans are notoriously resistant to cards for whatever reason. On the other hand I was in Sweden a few months ago and never used cash (nor my physical card as I recall, everything was by app).

Ah, but that’s Germany. They love cash. On the other hand, I was in Sweden a few months ago and never used cash or indeed (I think) my physical card. Everything was by phone.

Excellent pictures! Thanks for sharing them on Flicker so that I can share them with stories.

Good list. I would add one.

The UK has had this for decades. You can get a class “B auto” licence which only allows you to drive automatics. The regular class “B” licence allows you to also drive manual. You ended up with a “B-auto” licence if you sat your road test in an automatic - it was a badge of shame for anyone who had it.

Winter tires on any of these would work just fine. I grew up on a farm 6 miles from the nearest paved road. You’ll be fine, Francis.

Ugh!  How dare you associate Fancy Kirsten with commoners.

Can’t be “the people” if you are “The Person.”

Of course not. FK is in the class of one.

Owning a Berlingo for 10yrs and having owned uncountable 2CV /AKA I would not agree the Berlingo is in any way a worthy successor of the famous 2CV van.
