That Uninmog is no Unimog, but a Zetros, apart from the cab these share very little. The Zetros is a rigid frame, conventional axle heavy duty truck, the Unimog has portal axles on a twist frame and much less payload.

I know someone with a 24BT. It’s a fascinating car. And really handsome. It’s a shame Panhard never had the money to develop a 4 cylinder motor, but they still managed to get 50 horsepower out of the flat twin in these.

The higher limits of an R8 could be negated by a poor driver. The lower limits of a CR-V could be enhanced by a skilled driver. You can’t pick and chose your speed limits.

Their statement is perfectly reasonable: what may today be a crappy worthless old car can be, in the future, a very rare historic and cultural document.

I would argue that LS swapping a Model T, or a Corvair, or any number of other vehicles would fundamentally transform the experience.  It’s still powered by explosions fueled by dino juice, but the vehicle is radically changed.

I can understand your grievance that they only specify EV conversions and ignores ICE swaps. From my perspective the difference is that one likely completely changes the overall experience whereas the other doesn’t. I would never deign to tell people what to do with their cars, but for everyone I know who loves old…
