I’ve seen people take to it with a buffer and polish the plastic smooth then slather it in the abs restorative stuff.  Looks like it works well.  Still like the aged look of the original panels as long as its somewhat even. 

They do look futuristic but also old, as if they were originally made a long time ago in a galaxy far away.
