Makes me wonder how the strength has held up under what some would consider interestingly patina’d aesthetics. There are a lot of different formulations of ABS—the stuff is everywhere in and underneath our lives—some of which hold up to UV better than others.

Glorious!

A crossover is a pretend-tough car. Extra tall to not strain hip joints during ingress. Mostly itended for highways, super market parking lots and soccer training.

For a native English speaker Dutch is probably the easiest language to learn properly. Easier than the related German language, as the grammar is easier. Certainly easier than Spanish or French.

Prices in Europe must include sales tax. In Germany that’s 20% - not inconsiderable. I’m just surprised that under $40k cars have become so common so soon. If you’d said that five years ago I would have been credulous.

Forget claustrophobia, I’m getting lung disease just thinking about it...

Yes! It was a *terrible* riding experience. So much soot and dust, as you can imagine. It’s sometimes surprising to me anyone was willing to give underground trains another go after that.

A roof!  This thing has a roof!  I’ll take one.

Interestingly enough, that image is of one end of the Thames Tunnel, which was the first tunnel to be dug under a body of water and was begun in 1825 before passenger trains were even a thing. It was originally for horses and carriages, and it’s now part of the Jubilee Line.

It even has a bull bar!

Agreed.

The Atlantic Avenue tunnel in NYC dates back to 1844. It fell out of use by the 1860s, but that's even earlier than the London Underground.
