One striking aspect of car tests in German media is the prominence of brake tests: distance to 0 from various speeds, behaviour under various split surface combinations, etc. If the car doesn't make the grade, it's called out, no matter how good in other disciplines.

Yup, managed the coasting out of the driveway trick too at a very tender age. This being Europe, my folks had a flyweight Citroën Dyane, so a neighbour who saw it happening, gently nudged it back with his car, with no harm to either party.
