I first saw it on Cartoon Network, but it’s not a CN original. Either way, it’s great. They sure don’t make’em like they used to.

I used to be SUPER all about teleportation until reading David Wong’s “This Book is Filled with Spiders”. In it, a doctor waxes poetic about his phobia of the show Star Trek. He explains that the teleporter was always described as something that takes you apart on a molecular level and then puts you back together Read more

lol nope. I think it’s the opposite effect - I’ve been on the internet so long I’ve learned to take everything with a grain of salt :)

I’m in the space where I just gotta wait and see. I always moderate my hopes with games, you just can’t know til the game comes out. I’m replaying FFVII and it’s great and I don’t need a remake. If the remake comes out eventually and the whole thing is great, awesome, I’ll play it, if not, the original still holds up Read more

I feel like SE really put all of their eggs on the FFVII basket, which troubles me. It’s like they’ve set themselves up with a gargantuan project over the next 5 - 10 years without a real end goal or scope which will no doubt take much longer than they originally might have planned. I’m getting FFXV deja vu all over Read more

I don’t know much about Star Trek beyond the recent films, but if the transporter works in the same way as “brain scan” copy in SOMA, I’d have reservations....

I have a ton of affection for TOS and TNG, but DS9 is my fave by a country mile. Read more

Under normal circumstances, I would agree. I have always preferred the FF OSTs to their orchestral counterparts and remasters (FFX/X2 HD comes to mind) and therefore usually appreciate the option to choose which version of the soundtrack to go with. Judging by the E3 boss demo, what we are getting is very functionally Read more

Counterpoint, as a massive fan of the original, hearing Uematsu’s Magnum Opus done with a full symphony might be the thing I’m looking forward to the most about this remake. Hell, I kinda want them to just use the Distant Worlds versions of some of the tracks.

Do you really think Square Enix would bother making this remake if they thought they would only be selling it to the people who only bought the first one?

I think it would be great to have the option of the original soundtrack but at the same time from what I have heard so far this Remake soundtrack is sounding really good and I am happy for that because I have played the original easily over 50 times and a change is nice which is why I am very excited for this remake Read more

I prefer the broadsword or even flail over a spear.  I want lateral options more than distance and only a couple enemies move diagonally so far, so you can still remain safe by approaching beside them rather than straight at them.

In my case, all the “nerd stuff” was out of bounds simply by living in a small town, not being particularly rich, or a combination of both; Once I got a steady access to the web at college, I binged on Anime, Videogames, and Books like there was no tomorrow.

Ive tried to hit all the major ones, but these days my time is pretty severely limited so I just throw everything on the backlog and imagine a world where I can make any headway on that. I finally beat Witcher 3 so I imagine progress can at least be resumed. Almost 200 hrs is too many hours for a game. Should Max at Read more

I have never picked up FFVII. *gasps* I expect to still get grilled about it after the remake (“doesn’t count”). Read more

also TNG because it was the first show i remember watching where a character died and stayed dead.  IT was a gamechanger for me as previously everything i’d watched there was no real continuity in the show - it could be watched in any order.

TNG is comfort food for my nerdy soul. DS9 and Discovery are up there too but you have to watch quite a few episodes in any particular story arc to get a satisfying payoff. Next Gen, you can jump in any time and get a self-contained hit of Trek-y goodness.
