I remember when there were “left-of-center” Republicans. The polarization began in the 1960s when first Nixon running against JFK, definitely Goldwater pushed the GOP to the right, and to white. There are more right-of-center Democrats than left-of-center Republicans. There needs to be balance in both parties.
