The “old man Weinstein” act is fucking hilarious. Crawl your way to prison on your belly if you have to, slug. Crawl. It makes it all the more gratifying.

what if the Indian government deems a Pakistani general to be a terrorist
It’s his ego. He can’t stand even the smallest criticism from anyone anywhere without attacking them personally. He can’t live with anything but unconditional support. So while yes, the Repub Senate probably won’t kick him out, the very idea of being impeached is working on his tiny cottage-cheese brain and driving…
Several candidates released statements late last night. Pretty sure that waiting until damn near noon the next day EST is pretty patient.
Um, Uber has lost in court or settled quite a bit. Sometimes, when they are confronted, rather than conform to the laws they just pull out of the market altogether.
FUCKING FINALLY. Get your shit together, MA.
That’s exactly the problem. I don’t know which Uber drivers are properly licensed and which are not because Uber doesn’t care enough about my safety or the safety of its drivers or the safety of pedestrians, bicyclists, and other motorists to follow the laws of the State it is headquartered in.
Potential Drivers have option to earn income with very small barriers of entry
Uber and Lyft are better than No Uber and No Lyft.
If Uber wants to make sure its service can be used by everyone that way, it has to acknowledge it is exerting control over its drivers such that the drivers are employees. A true independent contractor could say “nah, I’m at the end of my shift, I’m not taking you 10 miles west when home is 10 miles east from here.”
Upton Sinclair said “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.”
The difference is is that today uber has no worries about the running costs of all the cars. They have totally offset that onto the drivers, and they don’t need to worry about whether the driver is turning a profit or not. Once they own the cars themselves, making each car profitable becomes important. I could see…
Because people are stupid. Some of those stupid people have way too much money and have no idea what a dollar is actually worth. Those are the people who inevitably decide what a company is “worth.”
Precisely this. Want to just be a software company middle-man? Let drivers set their own prices. Let them work as many or as few hours as they want. Let them cancel fares when they want. Let them refuse rides once they know where the trip is taking them.
That’s bullshit.
Uber and Lyft punishes drivers for cancelling a percentage of their rides.
Investors expectations don’t match reality. Hopes and dreams aren’t a good basis for stock evaluations.
It’s not surprising. Expatriating is difficult. There are myriad legal issues regarding employment and immigration. Then there is the cost of relocating itself. Of course, it can be extremely difficult to expatriate if you don’t speak the language fluently. Then, there is isolation from friends and family.
And at what rate. (See NY’s price fixing lawsuit.)
Your definition of the difference between an contractor and an employee is incomplete. A link to an official definition from HHS shows why. HHS text is in bold:
