If Windows Phone 7 (and, by extension, the new Zune Firmware update), actually does support more audio and video codecs and containers, then I'll definitely be forking over the cash.

I am so excited to see this stuff pan out. From a trade report I read, HTC is very excited about being able to offer Microsoft products with their phones, which is hopefully a good sign of the product quality given HTC's company history of putting out good products.

I hope that this thing falls flat on its face. We don't need Apple to get another proprietary design win that makes it easier for them to make money and harder for the rest of the world.

I wonder how much of this is actually related to "Windows Phone 7" marketing and development and how much of it is related to the grand scheme of things.
