The expense thing is weird; the profitability of these CUVs seemingly hinges on people for some reason being willing to pay more for a taller version of the same platform. But if there’s no car version to anchor people’s price expectations, wouldn’t you expect prices to be driven down, or to at least be held flat

These are indeed extremely boring but the worst rear ends today are the melty looking ones on Mercedes coupes and sedans.

what BMW would a WRC car pretend to be? a 1-series hatch or a 1X? An i3?

I wonder what the manufacturing challenges are in restarting production of something you haven’t made in 20 years or more. Do companies save the stamping dies for every body panel they make? Every casting mold? Or do they have to remake them to original specifications? I wonder if there are ever materials that can’t

yeah it reminds me of SimCity but the colors are nice. A good way to make what are clearly very similar buildings cheerily different.

I see so many of these in Chicago and I absolutely agree.

saaaame. coupes and hatches, that’s all I want in my life. I know you like sedans but I don’t even particularly enjoy the good looking ones.

isn’t sleep apnea usually treatable with consistent use of CPAP, though? This seems like it shouldn’t put their careers at risk...

around here there are a lot of intersections that give left turners a short protected turn time and then turn the indicator flashing yellow. That seems like the main use case for flashing yellow, and is convenient for left turns when traffic is less intense.

This thing is a fuel cell and I imagine high duty cycle vehicles like trucks may adopt fuel cells even if consumer vehicles use batteries. The fueling networks are easier to build out for their use case and the advantages are more significant.

I wish modern cars, with all their rear-facing and all-around camera systems, had a shutter button on the steering wheel that would save some of that data for later posting. When I see something I want to remember on the road, I have to resort to making a voice note using my smartwatch.

dumping a bunch of fuel into the engine when you get off the throttle. Produces copious tailpipe flames and keeps the turbo spinning so that boost is maintained when you get back on the throttle again.

still there last year when I lived there... Poor Richmond

It’s not a proper car dealership but Tom Raper RVs in Richmond, IN, is pretty unfortunately named.

also add in any elasticity in the tether pulling the now-free axle towards the cop car... it could be a real bad scene.

It’s far from the most important thing for most people about a US-EU trade deal but I hope one would include harmonization of safety and emissions regulations, and maybe even some kind of used car import deal? a man can dream.

Is that an overhead shelf? People say the Transit Connect is absurdly practical but wow is it...

WEC cars have doors, I’ve never seen an F1 canopy idea that added a door.

I find this doubly funny because what about a point-of-sale system is at all “Xtreme”?

bisected? What does that mean in this context? Surely not cutting the cars in half.
