I think it’s reasonable to expect them to be who they are*. I grew up around people like this (Crenshaw area of Los Angeles) and really....expecting them to be super woke, not homophobic and suddenly super respectful of women just because that is what is en vogue in more mainstream society is a fool’s errand.

Building a persona is part of it but the other part is a number of them really are people who kill/maim others over minor disputes.

????

Yeah I’ve heard most people go over budget for various reasons. Don’t give in! Set your intention and stick to it. You’ll be much happier in the end.

Thank you, I was sitting here thinking I was crazy for thinking that chaps/80s shoulder pad suit was a mess.

“Sex” isn’t even a bad word! Like, you could be talking about the sex of your baby or asking your teen if they’re having sex yet & talking about protection or any number of other things.

Can you think of any female singers today that don’t dress in glamourous contrived outfits and aren’t dancers (and usually actors) on top of that?

I’ll be honest-I did not miss out on the pain of getting my ears pierced. I was quite pleased when I was old enough to choose my own earrings that my mom had mine pierced when I was a baby and had no clue what was going on. I was that kid who was excited when I got permission to wear dangly earrings in 6th grade.

No I was clear that you think weddings are unimportant. I suppose I was just making sure that you were aware that calling it “just a party” is disrespectful and diminishing to those who don’t see it that way.

The point I was making is that you’re diminishing the importance of a wedding to the people who get married by calling it “just a party” or telling folks that they are wasting money on “just a party”. I think you’re aware that you’re doing that though so maybe this is just a fool’s errand.

Portman apologized for naming Jessica Simpson, which I think was the right thing to do. It’s personal because Portman made it personal. Not on purpose, of course, but she did use her as an example instead of speaking generally .

I mean, if you want to be really pedantic about it, the reception is the party so....

Er what? He thinks Jennifer Aniston is pretty and Dolly made a couple of dirty and definitely exaggerated jokes about it.

For some people though, a wedding is not just a “party” just like a marriage is not just a “piece of paper”. People who consistently call weddings “parties” make my eye twitch. A wedding is just a “party” in the way that having a baby is just shoving a neonate out of your cooze.

Thank you. I sympathize with the hit to their livelihood as well but if you’re running your own business as these folks are, you have to be prepared.

My point was that it’s unlikely that Tumblr would suddenly shut a particular group of folks out that weren’t doing anything illegal or generally frowned upon so other freelancers shouldn’t really be worried about Tumblr censoring them based on the sex trafficking law.

I suppose I just find it stupid that they are upset about Tumblr censoring adult content when they knew for months that the major websites were taking anything remotely pornographic off their sites for fear of being targeted by the new online sex trafficking laws. It just seems like a bizarre thing to complain about

“Sex workers are some of the most adaptable people on earth.”

I don’t know but I hate seeing toilets without covers, period. Public toilets are just so friggin gross. They fling toilet particles into the air. Like, literally spray them skyward when you flush. *shudder*

Well yea but the point was that they don’t ask boy or girl toy at the ones I’ve been to in the last 10 years or so. I’m curious about the one you’re talking about because that seems very unusual for LA county.
