if something i am buying is on the “naughty list”- i skip the cashiers and head to the customer service counter to ring up (unless it is lotto day)

“ When you start selling it to “Lost my phone” apps or even worse, in both this case and the case of the Taylor family, emergency responders, the query needs to return either an accurate response or an error that makes the user unquestionably stop and consider the result.”

as a 911

As a 911 dispatcher for last 30 years- I have been following (dealing with) this sort of thing (the fact that the “users” don’t know how the technology works) for years.
Everyone involved takes whatever data is tossed up in front of them as “true” without factoring in the variable that creates the data...

I am also on the A-List- and I’ve watched it 2x so far... partly because the other movies showing in theaters this week are like what Sunday morning TV programing is like....

This movie is like Keanu showing that Johnny Mnemonic was a real thing- and that it could be done again.

I used to live in Okinawa back in the 80's and saw trucks with similar lights- took some studying to figure them out- because they would vary on when they were lit up. Finally figured it out-that they were based on how fast the truck was going.

Gotta tell you. People really do think like this.
I’ve spent last 30+ years as a 911 dispatcher/call-taker,

Sadly - yeah- people really do “think/believe/act like this”
What is more sad - is that more folks call in with this sort of mindset-
but are not calling

is this the first Art Deco 911?
the color, the style, the style just tickles that vibe in me.
now-if he (or someone) could come up with a art deco style Porsche badge...in the style of this...

first time i scrolled passed an article/picture of this- i thought- oh those guys at Duffleblog....
then - i kept seeing more and more articles popping up
and thought- damn- Duffleblog pulled another grand caper off...

finally got curious to see what the mainstream was publishing/forwarding from Duffleblog...and wow.

I really hope that the manager did not hit the panic/robbery alarm button.
if so-i hope that the police gave the manager a stern ass chewing. nothing in the situation required an immediate dispatch of 2 or more officers running hot.
i see it happen in my job all to often- manager of a retail shop has a difficult

and even if not - they still get kudos for understanding their employees.

and a side thought about the fact that the
