If the show was in such dire financial straits though, would 3 weeks have really been a game changer? I don’t totally see the producers logic there, unless they quietly had someone big lined up to step in after that gap.

Same. He also started a week late. I’ve wondered why (I bought tickets to see him but missed him when he bumped dates). Kind of wondering now if they were dicking around with a bigger name then, delayed him in case they landed someone bigger, ultimately put him on, and then wanted to yank him early. Good riddance to

I think it’s kind of a red herring - they’re (Dave Malloy and producers) talking about numbers falling off a cliff when Ingrid Michaelson leaves on 8/13, which really has nothing to do with last week’s performance with Oak AND her. Kind of an extraneous detail.

They need to pay the cast and to keep the lights on, but ALSO pay back investors. A show needs to fully recoup its investment amount on top of weekly operating costs to stay afloat long term.

Yes it is - it’s on the TKTS board daily and discounts have been available since groban left. Maybe not for Saturday night, or on stage seating, but it has been pretty heavily discounted. (As most shows are, with a few ‘hot’ exceptions)

There is a standby Pierre but likely Dave Malloy will step in until they land someone else or close. He’s the creator and original off broadway pierre - I saw him in the show in July between groban and oak.

Yeah I can almost see her refusing Jaime’s counsel or dismissing Jon Snow about something important because she’s the queen or the last of the Lannisters or something, and then it slowly dawning on her that she’s totally fucked herself.

Agree, I was wondering if his dad’s name is what got him in there :)

Didn’t his father have connections even though they were estranged?

Totally agree about Cersei - she’s such a loose cannon that I’m wondering if she is going to totally fuck something up just out of arrogance and sloppiness and ultimately take herself down.

I can actually see Seth more because he was really a writer who just sort of wound up on camera

Agree with all of this. Dax Shepard also confuses me as a popular-ish thing.

Oh I think he does want to be king. But it’s likely that he also knows that Will and Kate are more popular, and the public would probably be happier if Charles abdicated in their favor.

Same. Also hoping for some solid scar ones from ‘be prepared’

It IS gorgeous. Enjoy! My sisters and I had the best time.

Kevin Kline’s name may be the only thing that got his production on broadway in the first place. It’s an interesting relationship. Shows need to sell thousands of tickets every week - a ‘name’ is relevant to tourists and will sell tickets. Once there is demand for a broadway production, there will often be demand for

The NY Times review was pretty sexist also. Made me mad. Basically said young women would like it, and implied they had no taste because sillygirlsamiright.

I loved Anastasia to death for sentimental reasons but the book was a bit of a mess. In years past new musicals that didn’t get nominated did perform -shame that there was no Anastasia number on the show. I think they got nominations for costume and projections which aren’t aired live.

I fast forwarded! I felt awkward.

Are any of you watching VEEP? JonahbRyan’s shenanigans are seeming very Trump-like.
