I think they were happy dogs - they were spoiled rotten, loved silly, and nobody ever hit them. Our poodle would probably have been happier if I’d moved out at age 8, but there’s only so much you can do :D

That just seems cruel - and a good way to encourage the dog to try and steal food from your plate. Our dogs usually got fed before anyone else, it was just letting them eat your food before you were finished.
