It's more about how its done maybe? The way publishers are currently doing it makes the consumer feel as if they are being nickel and dimed... not fun and it doesn't really feel like a perk. The perks they do offer to day one buyers are usually silly and aren't worth the time.

Actually, The xenomorphs work fine as a way to take out a population without causing that much damage to the environment/infrastructure. You could also argue that the aliens may also do terraforming(I don't think I spelled that right)?
