When my adult son goes off the rails the VERY FIRST THING I tell the authorities when reporting him missing and/or a danger to himself is that he is struggling with mental illness. It’s a smart move when you’re trying to protect your child.

Really glad she’s okay! I understand the urge as a teenager to go off your meds once you start feeling “normal” so you can just be a regular kid. I hope she realizes how helpful they can be to avoid situations like this.
