I thought the slam poetry thing at the beginning was beautiful. I think it accomplished what a cold open should do… provide insight or an allegory for what the rest of the show will be about. And this succeeded on multiple levels.

I think the better question is why are we judging what is actually going on two episodes in? How could we know in Season 1 that all episodes 1-8 were setting us up for 9 and 10?
