Yeah- I understand the reason the game gives you, but it's unusual form of accommodation for people that do play Nuzlockes. The reoccurring rivals are really hard to rationalize in the other games.

I was really honestly expecting them to stick to the pattern and just do one "Grey" game. All I could think when this video flashed the logos for Black 2 and White 2 was "TWICE THE MONEY! TWICE THE MONEY!"

Here's the problem, the increasing digitalization of content hampers the ability of individual consumers to reliably archive their favorite games. If I purchase and enjoy a game, I damn well sure better be able to reach and pull it off my shelf ten years down the line like a good book. Instead, I'm seeing a trend
