Not that I know of. I have two sets of standard keys. Valet parking is not widely used where I am.
That part I get, because most cars come with two keys. but I’ve never had to have a modern car key duplicated - I had one priced out and it was about $150.
To be fair, I may have known about the car before most of the other shoppers, as I was cyberstalking autotrader.com at the time. I saw it posted online within minutes of it going up, and drove out to look at it the next morning. It was right next to the wash line, and hadn’t been prepped for the lot yet.
Yeah, I’m totally going to have a $100 key cut just so that the car dealer I MIGHT trade my car into won’t “lose” my keys.
Of course they’re playing a game - that’s why they don’t have price tags on everything, like you’ll find in almost every other buying experience. Keeping the price tags off is a way to make the price whatever the sucker is willing to pay.
I’m glad I didn’t have a trade-in for them to evaluate, because I’m sure they would have “lost the keys” to that too.

Agreed. My SH Forester XT is great fun to drive, and if you want better handling, it’s a Subaru - everything swaps right in. I’ve got the STI rear sway bar, and along with the Perring steering dampener lockdown, it’s got my Forester handling much more like its WRX sibling.
