7 is amazing, White House Down, Rene Walker, Evil Tony, freakin' Jon Voight! Fantastic season, have no idea why it gets lumped into "bad 24".

Season 7 is definitely one of the better seasons (I'd put it in my top 3 24 seasons) the show did. S8 takes awhile but it definitely kicks up a notch in the back half. The first half of S8 does have a lot of Russian gangsters in it and the majority of the appearances by Rene Walker. Also there's a confrontation

I'd love for 24 for to a mole reveal at the first act break for once. 1:15, holy koler, that guy's a mole!

They were fantastic in the bit, don't get me wrong, but I'm still shipping for a dead Rene Walker. In my mind, Jack would eventually walk away from Audrey because he's still in love with Freckles. They sold the hell outta Rene being the one for Jack back in S7-8 and I still buy that.

That… is actually not entirely unlikely. They can bust out that Chinese guy from S4-6 as the Big Bad of the Season, with Naked Mandy and Crazy Tony as his second in commands! And a jawless Logan is behind it all, yet again!!

Yeah, I don't buy the "Audrey is Jack's true love" bit because for my money, that was Freckles who was felled by a Russian sniper in S8.

S6, I believe, Audrey got nabbed by the Chinese because Jack Reasons. Jack saves her and Audrey is last seen spewing gibberish as she's taken away in a straight jacket by men in white coats with butterfly nets to the funny farm.

I'm waiting for the Aaron Pierce: Director of SHIELD reveal to happen sometime around the time-skip.

This was a solid episode out of the 24 subgenre of "Jack actually has to stay in one place, basically, for an hour while everyone else does the narrative heavy lifting" cuz a lot of the times those episodes feel like filler. It had a great method of ratcheting up the tension without putting Jack on the front lines

Neat!

I can completely understand if Zack doesn't want to do it but AV Club could simply use a different reviewer for the VOY / ENT stuff. AV Club completionist archive of all of Trek, yes. Specifically forcing Zack to watch and review it Clockwork Orange style, no.

Everyone come out back, I want to show you my 8 inch Abe Lincoln!

It does seem jarring that AV Club has reviewed every single episode TOS / TNG / DS9 and even the freakin' animated series and Voyager and Enterprise are left out. Even if people hate every frame of those shows (which I sure as hell don't, there's fantastic Trek episodes in both of those series) from a pure archival

I actually dig Orci's Trek work (including him chipping in on the IDW comic, I thought the Countdown and Khan series were great) and he's a bona-fide Trekkie so it I'll give it a shot.

Freckles' death does work in the context of "this is season 8, this is the last season, let's let Jack off the chain". And I have always said the back half of S8, basically from when Rene dies onward, is pretty darn great compared to the rest of the season.

Just rewatched S8, Jack was getting it on with Renee for a solid 20 minutes. And I think one of the producers said that he was actually just "taking a break" and would have resumed sexytime if the sniper hadn't rudely killed off one of the best characters on the show who actually showed up in the later seasons.

I don't think they had sexy time. I think Naveed wasn't able to perform, what with the potential innocent blood being shed / his wife having been fist-deep with a smackhead hacker mere hours before.

Stone's panicked reaction to the kissing direction was pretty fantastic as well.

Pirate Sarsgard sketch is one of my favourite things ever in the last decade of SNL.
