Is it sad that I think the 90s Spider-Man cartoon did the Lizard better than this movie? In the show, Connors was only a monster when he transformed, but was a "good guy" when in human mode. As soon as Rhys Ifans turns evil once, he's suddenly "out to better humankind" or whatever. You know, one of THOSE villains.

All I can say is that the moment with Simon and River in space, he being terrified and her being mystified, is one of the best moments in the show. And I'm not even particularly fond of those characters, really.

You can still see those intros on the DVDs for Seasons 1 and 2. The ones you're thinking of were for the first 6 episodes, the "Fireside Chat" sketches. They did other kinds of intros as well, but those were of the highest hilarity.
