You can still see those intros on the DVDs for Seasons 1 and 2. The ones you're thinking of were for the first 6 episodes, the "Fireside Chat" sketches. They did other kinds of intros as well, but those were of the highest hilarity.

Also, here's me linking to a shitty South Park blog I started last year but recently abandoned because I realize I suck at it. I got as far as the beginning of Season 4. If anyone here digs mediocre blogs, have at it.

If Phil thinks Pip's appearance is strange, wait till we get to episode 4, which features a white Token. No joke.

I was exactly the same age as the kids in the show when South Park began airing. I remember seeing those early VHS tapes that had about 2 episodes on them at the Blockbuster my mom would frequently take me to and being confused by the notion that a cartoon could possibly be inappropriate for kids (we couldn't afford

I don't think you can talk about good satire without talking about South Park. One of my favorite film parodies is the episode "Pre-School", a loose parody of Cape Fear, which made for an excellent kids-centric episode. But the show is at its best when it doesn't parody something directly, but instead parodies a

Buffy is easily his strongest show, with Angel right behind it. Dollhouse comes in third just barely above Firefly. I think if Firefly been given at LEAST a second season, it would've been a much more memorable show. Instead, it suffers from Season-1-itis a lot of the time and, a couple episodes aside, it feels like

What Lupin said, episode 6 is when it starts to feel like a genuine Whedon show. The first season finale (the unaired one, that is) is one of the best Whedon hours ever made.

Who else thinks this is Joss Whedon's best pilot episode? And I don't even think Firefly was his best show. "Serenity" establishes so much at a perfectly reasonable pace. Watching this and knowing that Fox wanted a "less confusing" Pilot episode just makes me disrespect that entire establishment all the more.

Still one of the best series finales I've ever seen. Thanks for these reviews, Noel, they've been a blast to read. The Buffy/Angel blog was the first TV Club blog I ever started reading and it's one of the features that made me fall in love with AV Club. So, yeah, cheers. Very sad to see it go.

I would like to contribute a nomination for Monty Python's Flying Circus being TV Club Classic'd in the future. I know sketch comedy can be a pain to write fresh things about, but the Mr. Show blog turned pretty damn well, all things considering.

The sad thing is, I already kinda tried a blog and got as far as Season 4 before abandoning it due to realizing I suck at it and no one was really reading it. Maybe I'll post the old links just for kicks.
