As a dev working on the same F2P title for ~6 years now: F2P itself isn’t the problem. It’s what you do with it. Most devs DEFINITELY don’t care purely about money (though at the end of the day, you need the game to survive, so it’s not a zero factor). People at the top, however, do often care about profit primarily,

“The wonderful Film Crit Hulk wrote an insightful essay on this in 2031:”

NEED.

I’m willing to bet there’ll be SOMEthing FF or Doom related this fall; telling people about it now would spoil the ending of Secret Wars.

As a game dev that deals with exploits a lot: We really do our best to make sure exploits don’t happen, but in any complex enough system, it’s bound to happen once in a while, even with the most rigorous of testing. Players taking advantage of exploits makes us sad pandas, and the potential for exploits often prevents

I'm probably going to do the Wireless Transfer, should be shorter than finding a screwdriver in a size I don't own.

Very Yes.

There's now a spot on my desk at work labeled "Reserved for Skull Kid".

Zero developers make a game saying "We hate the subject material, let's build a truly terrible game around it". Infinitely more often, there's a good idea somewhere at the base of development (and I'd say that's easily the case with Boom), but things like budgets, technology, and small mistakes early in the process

As a game developer, one of the things that draws my ire the most is when someone suggests that a developer "hates" the game (or an aspect of the game) they're working on. In 99.9% of cases, it's not true, the comment is non-constructive and only serves to make the people working on the game (who are usually dedicated

"You won't be able to customize your characters, unfortunately"

Honestly, I just want a bunch of blank ones so the wife and I can go crazy painting them.

Never liked the Gamecube controller much, even for Smash Bros. The X/Y button placement is awkward, the Z button is small, the L and R triggers are huge and take too long to press fully. The whole controller always felt too big, too - I have relatively small hands, I suppose. Once bought a much smaller, third-party GC

Tried to see it this morning, too many clouds around the Boston area. Sadness.

Going to assume this is a list of how fabulously cool-looking each fighter is, and not a list of how viable these characters are.

In either case, Jiggz should be wayyyyy higher :)

I know personally, I bought the game for solo and couch multiplayer; For some reason, I only enjoy Mario Kart multiplayer when I'm playing with people I know.

I'll probably play again solo for a while when the DLC drops, and I'll probably play some with friends around the holidays.
