Well I think the 60's for many in Hollywood was a stressful time. I felt his portrayal personified that vibe. Just as it was 'twilight' for Aldrich and Warner it was 'midnight' for Davis and Crawford.

I thought Molina's interpretation of Aldrich was beautiful and the scenes between him and Tucci's Jack Warner just a memorable and insightful as those between Sarandon's Davis and
Lange's Crawford.
