Japan views religion very differently than we do in the west. It’s not a big deal there, most people wouldn’t call themselves “religious.”

Yeesh, I remember that heatwave. Was pretty sure I was going to melt. Riding my bicycle to class in that was not fun.

Hell, if you want a high speed, high capacity, affordable rail system, Japan’s Shinkansen is a perfect illustration that it can be done (although its for longer distances and not inter-city travel).
