I hope Gawker Media pays you well for this!
Not trying to be condescending. Just saying.
Rage & depression are closely linked. At the risk of over simplifying, depression is anger turned inward.
If there isn't, there probably needs to be a study on that. Depression isn't just sitting in a corner listening to "Everybody Hurts" on repeat. It also manifests in anger, often projected outward, irritability, drug & alcohol abuse. The truth is we don't know the details of the story. It can be inferred he was…
Not only have I gone through my own depression, but I work with a kid who's father tried to commit suicide & take his kid with him. It's not as uncommon as you think.
But you can't deny that depression was a huge factor in this tragic incident. Depression & anger are interrelated, they're not mutually exclusive. When you're so depressed that you're thinking of taking your own life, you're probably not thinking about anybody else's either. Not that it's an excuse, just saying.
Reggie Fils-Aime, "Please like Nintendo again!"
When you're thinking of killing yourself, you're probably not thinking about the "sanctity" of anybody else's life. In that moment. If he knew there was help available, he might have rethought his urge to kill his son, as well as himself.
Like I said, when you're suicidal you're not exactly thinking rationally. What rational person would kill their own child?
I just have the utmost sympathy for all involved. Including the child victim & the father. I speak from my own past experience coming through a serious, suicidal depression that someone who's so depressed they're considering suicide, they're not thinking clearly. I'm not excusing his actions, I can just see where he…
You're the southernmost state. Shit rolls downhill...
Good point.
I think there's a difference between checking out an attractive person, & the leering glare of a rapist/ murderer. Also as a guy (speaking very generally), gay or straight, don't mind being looked at as a sexual object.
"Check yo' self, befo' you wreck yo' self."
Plenty of otherwise "rational" people believe that shit...
Still would have been better than Joel McHale's condecention!
At least when Tosh makes rape jokes, their funny! Too soon?
I wish Spike would have tried to get Aisha Tyler to co-host. At least she cares about games & gamers. I hope it had nothing to do with her Ubisoft duties.
It's awkward because of Reggie, not Geoff. How dare a journalist try to get a "scoop"!
