Good, this dude was an ass. Although this quite obviously doesn’t change how fvcked uber is.

1st Gear: Nobody would give a flying fuck what they looked like if they actually worked.

Hell yes. The idea of a winter beater has been on my mind for a while, but I didn’t think of an old Crown Vic until I got into one that was an uber. The driver told me he bought it for 4 grand with 150k miles on it, and put on another 75k in ubering without it giving him any trouble. Its main job would be to take

Just the ease of mind of knowing that if you hit a slick patch, the computer will be able to individually modulate all four corners to get the car pointed straight in a way that no human with a single brake pedal can.

I get where you’re coming from but I have two issues:

In my research I’ve actually discovered the Dodge Avengers mechanically were good until 200k miles, which totally blew my mind. You can get those for practically nothing, and I’m considering that as well.

Bingo. One of Cadillac’s biggest failings in recent memory is how people don’t like that they share a showroom floor with a Malibu. In reality though, it was one of their biggest strengths they could be fixed at any GM dealer with well stocked parts.

Hmmm I like this. But the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion I’d rather commute something I don’t mind abusing. If I change my mind this sounds like the best move though. Thanks for the tip!

Neutral: Currently performing a cost analysis of buying a cheap winter beater vs. buying a set of new winter tires for my ‘16 Mustang GT (I won’t screw with secondhand craiglist tires, my car deserves better). Cheapest I can wheels, tires and a balance job at the local shop is about 1.5k.

That makes sense. Is the urea injection the equivalent of what VW called “AdBlue” on their diesels that weren’t cheaters? I’m fairly certain the narrative was that corporate demanded they make a car the passes NOx emissions while not needing an SCR. I didn’t know if the FCA diesel used it or not.

Yeah, I was reading the Tier II version earlier. I wonder if it matters if a model jumps multiple bins just by engine/trim level. Seems like something they would frown upon.

Interesting. Any idea if regular gas cars run up close to those limits? I would find it hard to believe a gas and a diesel are pumping out anywhere near the same levels of both.

While I agree with your basic sentiment, I’m pretty sure the other byproducts are the bigger issue with diesel, not CO2. Dieselgate was about NOx, DPF filters catch a myriad of other stuff. That’s why so many European cities are in the process of banning it outright.

That would absolutely rule. And I say that as someone who roots for them.

Because DEATH TO ALL THE TIRES

Same here, bought a ‘16 Mustang GT instead of an ‘18 because A: It looks way better, and B: it saved me over 10k to get a Premium.

1st Gear:

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 made this the first supercar I understood existed. Owning one is on the bucket list as a favor to 7 year old Tahoe Guy.

If you have an example that is this clean, it sucks to not be a manual. But god damn, that is a slick cruiser. NP, with the decdiding factor being the dog in the 4th photo.

I said this last time, but I am 1000% here for a Formula E “Gas Man” that is an absolute hulk carrying around an outrageous cable with a giant pin & sleeve receptacle normally used for welding.
