I don't think the fact that one lives next to a golf course means it's
"expected" one will die from a golf ball to the cranium. :-)

As someone who was raised religious and did have that baggage to overcome, I can vouch for how absolutely true the character of David rings. It's one of the best portrayals of the struggle between religious faith/upbringing and sexuality I've ever seen.

Yeah, that exchange got me too.

"The remarkable thing about Six Feet Under is how your perspective on it can change depending on where you are in life."

That's a legitimate reading, but I've always seen it on less of a macro level. To me, it's just further confirmation that Rico married beneath himself.

The Joshes gave strong signs of heading in the direction of 2 even in the two episodes before Josh C.'s first departure. Not sure if Josh M. was genuinely attracted to Josh C. or just saw him as a challenge. Probably the latter, but either way, I completely agree that Josh M. is somehow going to change Josh C.'s life

Bert and Tim floating around the workroom together for critiques would be sort of amazing…basically the gay version of Stadler & Waldorf.

Just wanted to give a little love to my favorite Teti-ism (out of several strong candidates) from this recap, which I don't believe has been mentioned in comments yet:

Something tells me Bert was never as flamboyantly queeny/bitchy as Josh M., though. Time can soften the edges of that sort of thing, but that much uber-gay just can't be sanded away so thoroughly.

The title "A Private Life" always makes me think of Emily Previn—the woman who lived alone, choked to death, and had planned her own funeral, which went largely unattended.
