I am from Chippewa Falls, the town that Jack is from in the movie. Jack tells Rose that he fell through the ice on Lake Wissota. There is a Lake Wissota by Chippewa Falls, but Jack couldn't have fallen through the ice there because it is a man made lake, and it wasn't created until 2 years after the Titanic sank.
