I’m willing to bet this was fallout from something else. I’m thinking police have been following him for months trying to pin ANYTHING on him. When they saw him with the girl, they followed up on her to see who she was. It was during the investigation of the girl that they found out she was 16.

Sounds like someone has never smokes on a pit before. The pellet pits are 100x easier to maintain temperature control compared to a traditional smoker. Getting your fire started and keeping it going isn’t an easy thing to do in a traditional smoker.
