The frustrating thing for me was that Kurt’s behavior was a homophobic trope still in use at the time and, IDK, did the Glee team think they were being edgy by defending the creepy, controlling gay guy?

From my understanding, while there are areas that are endangered by lava flows every few years this particular area had been left alone for several decades. If you’re desperate to own a home in Hawai’i (which is pretty expensive) that’s one way to afford it.
I was worried, too, like is this going to be stories where the Shitty Men List gains sentience, goes out of control and the creator is “What have I done? Technology seems like a solution but it’s making things even worse!”
Replying to myself again because I read the plot to the She-Devil sequel and oh god, the story is her grandson decides to transition into a woman because men are so oppressed. I’m afraid it would be an upgrade if the writer were a TERF so... ugh.
Aw, kinja’s not letting me edit so I’ll add that you can find it on YouTube. It’s very 80s but so good.
Yes! I was trying to figure out how to recommend the original British version without dismissing the fans of the Streep/Barr version. It’s very dark and a “dig two graves” kind of revenge story but Julie T Wallace is amazing. The book is even better, even tho the author became one of those people who became…
The first episode was just cringe but it got better as it moved on to the more ridiculous members of the Bluth family. Michael and George Michael aren’t funny on their own (even if it’s good to be reminded Michael is only relatively decent compared to his family) but GOB and Mayebe’s stories were a hoot and Tobias’…
It’s that there’s so much TV, it’s much harder for an original series to get noticed. Even if your reaction is “who wants more of that?” it has a better chance of getting watched than a new concept. It takes a lot of marketing/advertising money to explain to people what a show is and why they might want to watch it.…
I still haven’t seen it but the premise sounds like it encourages the idea that suicide is a way to finally get people to take your trauma as seriously as it should be... which is why I keep putting off watching it. OTOH, Ross Butler.
She did make a joke about McConnell’s neck folds but no one seemed to notice because they were trying to find a way to fit Wolf’s routine into their hypocritical feminist template by rewriting the Sanders jokes.
Tho a few years ago the right were making jokes about Elena Kagen playing softball, getting all ‘Heh heh, we know what that means, right? right?’ So they’re probably outraged at the joke they would have made with the setup. not the joke actually made.
I adore Maddow, I’ve listened to her since the day her first national radio show debuted but she has a serious weak spot when it comes to admitting the faults of people she deals with frequently, like her frequent praise for Greta Van Sustern. This one is really gross, tho.
Not really. The bad publicity over how he treated Curry let GMA take the ratings lead, any executive who was really bean counting would have seen Lauer wasn’t worth a big salary or giving him a huge raise to keep him. This was proven further that without him Today’s ratings went up.
I can see how it can be filmed in a degrading manner, in a way that there’s no concern if she’s enjoying it but not “inherently degrading”. I can also see how, considering the current state of straight porn, that it seems pretty likely a gang bang would be filmed in a degrading manner. I don’t watch straight porn but…
Overall, I think the current head of NBC News has a bias to the right and would love to find a way to revive Tucker! on MSNBC.
How about making a show that profiles people who had their first career choice be derailed by harassment instead.
When I read the headline, I imagined a reality show about proposals as being more like a makeover show for someone planning to propose. This sounds worse than The Bachelor/ette and its insistence that three weeks of filming is enough to base a marriage decision, they’re going to propose at the end of how long it takes…
Treat yourself and spend an extra $4/month on the ad-free membership. I thought I didn’t mind ff-ing ads on shows I recorded on the DVR but it’s so much better without interruption that a show on a channel with ads has to be special if I’m going to watch it (Pose is the next show I’ll make that exception for).
Alternately, if you find yourself not finishing most of your reading, the audiobook is read by Lindy and is also really good.
I remember encountering an article a few years ago where the writer thought it would be clever to muse on how unexpected it is that Michelle Williams is the Dawson’s Creek alum having the best career. I was rolling my eyes because in my subset of the fandom we all talked about how she was the most talented actor on…
