At least Chris Colfer is a best-selling writer who can pick and choose his acting gigs. He had a recurring role on Hot in Cleveland, which was all about working with the HiC cast and guest-stars (IIRC he was in the ep with Carol Burnett).

A few years ago, Buzzfeed had a haunting profile with a woman whose job was to look at child porn, she was the person who has to deal with it when various sites report suspected child porn on their site. The thing I remember most was that she said the worst part of the job was she recognized some victims because they…
Thanks for the clarification, we were mostly discussing how there was no way that scene would make it into a film.
He forgot it, too, prompting a ‘OMG I can’t believe what I just read’ call. He knew to be ready for the gangbang scene but not an unconsenual handjob.
A friend just reread IT and there is a scene where one of the bullies sexually assaults one of the main characters. The Loser runs away and ends up leaving the bully alone in the sewer with It.
Also the idea that almost any sexual contact a man or boy gets is a “blessing.”
Yeah, it wasn’t. Therefore, I was surprised I enjoyed it. That said, the typical “the both realize they’re hypocrites and forgive each other” ending was frustratingly typical to the W&G formula. If the show had 22-episode seasons this one would be enough.
He did advocate for women’s lib in the early days but it pretty much ended up as he wanted women to be liberated enough to be sexually available to men without any expectation of a commitment (just the hot ones tho). After that, he wanted them to step back and do what the men told them to do.
Same! (Tho I was thinking, it’s a shame he’s named after something I associate with right wing bias... I was thinking one of those right wing publishers was named Regnerus.) Now I know he is the religious bias over fact guy!
I’m always mixed about these kinds of firings. I know it’s an easy and steady paycheck for someone like Hayes so it sucks for her to lose that but my selfish side wants her to be on a show I would watch (and where she doesn’t have to elevate terrible material to passable).
It’s been ages since I’ve watched either show but I thought the best part of The Voice was how the auditions tended to celebrate artistry instead of cruelly mocking people for having dreams bigger than their talent. Unfortunately, the competition rounds tended to be better on AI since that second round of The Voice…
Hmmm, you’re right. She probably watches and alternatively thinks 1-about how foolish people are that they don’t realize that they mayor needs the tourism revenue to pay for fighting the shark and 2- imagining how she would rally everyone to the mayor’s side.
TIL. Thanks!
Yeah, I’ve been following this closely because I like a lot of CK’s work and if he is an abuser that will ruin my enjoyment. I support the idea of believing women when they speak out about sexual assault, but I’ve also seen how gossip media will turn bullshit into a scandal because of some grudge. (Worse if GMG ends…
Peak TV was coined to describe the increase in TV shows at the time when streaming services and cable channels were getting into making original TV for the first time (all while channels that already made original TV were making more original shows).
That looked like it would be the case ten years ago but things have really changed. Reality TV is good at capturing the moment but there’s not a lot of interest in reliving Jersey Shore once its moment has passed. Peak TV is largely about the money moving to streaming, where people will more likely watch scripted…
I thought the first two episodes tended to drag as the characters are getting set up and the “talking about dicks in NPR voice” joke starts to wear thin but halfway into the series I didn’t want to stop watching until it was finished.
It’s a matter of where sympathies lie. Straight white men like Lauer can empathize more with someone who has been accused of sexual misconduct than someone who has faced a hostile workplace. Same as when the media stops to ask if an unarmed black murder victim might have had it coming (“No angel”) and wants to…
Thanks, when I heard people complain about her ignoring two of her kids I wondered if they were part of the church and in contact with her (or ignoring her as a “suppresive” person). There are lots of shitty things said in celebrity gossip and having strong opinions about how a woman should treat the children a cult…
I’d say they probably start out as messed up as the rest of us but that environment makes things worse. The huge amount of money involved and the effect the media can have on your ego magnifies everything, including the vultures who will get in the way of dealing with problems.
