I miss Stef Shrader too.
This is the point. It’s not about being pro-Trump. I’m not pro-Trump, and I don’t care to be associated as a Trump support because I don’t want to hear political bitching all goddam day long. I’m to the point I’ll vote for the fucker just to spite all you whinging windbags.
Yeah, the commenters really are Jalopnik anymore. The content is dry, and when it’s not, it’s inflammatory. I find myself spending a lot more time at The Drive. And as commenters get more beligerent and closed-minded, I’ll just avoid this place altogether.
To be fair, a lot of the downhill trend over the last 2 years is upper management has pushed out a lot of good writers.
And I’ve started spending more time at Autoblog and TheDrive and less time here!
This comment seems immature and childish. It is extremely unprofessional for the author, but i am not suprised.
Well yeah Erik, but we want automotive journalism, not politically biased opinions included in a car enthusiast driven web site / blog.
I’m in the same boat. Would love to hear about some other car sites with good content.
Welcome to Jalopnik - Alienating their readership since 2004.
No common from Erik on this one, because it was well thought out and well said. The other flamey ones are easy to respond to. In fact, I would love to hear what Rory says about this.
You know...that’s a great point, I should just stop reading Jalopnik. You are a pretty smart guy, except, of course, I am going to stop seeing the ads that pay your paycheck, so you will be an unemployed smart guy.
Sounds like a response my 4 year old would come up with.
In this context, I agree. On the one hand, I’m a big liberal and a car guy, and that’s not so common - I love that Jalopnik is a home for me. On the other hand, shit on Trump 100% when he says dumb shit about cars and tariffs or safety regulations or emissions regulations, or racist things about Nascar, or other…
They had a separate blog for politics, and then it got killed because when you ask these people to write about politics it’s bad. And not the funny kind of bad, the kind of bad that makes you question the author’s intelligence and makes them lose credibility on all subjects, not just politics.
I completely agree, this is supposed to be about cars and driving them....Lately it is nothing but weenies going full political and then also whining when someone drives fast to break the Cannonball Run record....Jalopnik should stick to cars and grow a pair.
I’ve been reading Jalopnik for about 10 years now and the last 2 years especially have been pretty bad. I think there are plenty of other automotive sites with much better content and more detail about what enthusiasts actually care about. What they don’t have, unfortunately, is an engaged comment section. If it…
Agree
Although I am surely not the first to comment about this... There is a place on Kinja for political spin and bias, and it isn’t Jalopnik. I had a conversation over the weekend with 4 friends who are all car guys, and we all agreed that the content on Jalopnik is straying further and further from what we want to read.…
I like all of this except the Maverick name on a truck. The Maverick is a baby muscle car and y’all know it.
