It’s only odd because you don’t understand. Fan translations are always more faithful to the original work. Official translations often change names and story elements for silly reasons especially on long RPG games, not to mention censorship.

There’s nothing illegal about playing a fan translated rom of a 20 year old game, especially if you also buy a copy of the original game for a few bucks on ebay to rest your overzealous conscience.

Again, I never said they should officially use the fan translation, what I said is that you can play the fan translation now, you don’t need to wait.
