Well to be fair, 7000 BC is 2500 years earlier, not 1000. And 2500 years is a VERY significant amount of time, especially when projected at the content here....the transition from nomadism and culture building of the human race.

I was freaked out by pretty much every scene in "The Orphanage," but particularly the "play" scene when Laura is doing the "One Two Three" song and each time she turns, the kids are like 20 feet closer to her. HELL no!

What a great list! I've read about half of the books on here and agree with their inclusion whole-heartedly. I only wish this post had come out a few weeks ago so I could have stacked my October chills and thrills themed reading month better!

I read 'The Terror' last year and I really enjoyed it. Its a long read, and sometimes a bit convoluted, but I think you'll find that the work as a whole stands up to a real sense disturbance and, well, terror. I didn't find any particular scene scary per se, but I loved the mood of being perpetually trapped and at

I think The Shining is definately an adult book. I read it just last year (when I was 32) and though I wasnt shaking in my bed at night, I found the pyschological aspect very unsettling, and very rewarding. But I did try to read 'Pet Semetery' when I was 11 or so and had to stop because it freaked me out too much. I

I read Salem's Lot just this past month as part of my anual October fright reading. Last year I did The Shining. But at the admittedly non tender age of 33 I did not find Salem's Lot scary....at all. It was a smooth read and nicely polished but felt like the classic "vampires in my town" theme. I had to remind

You did not. Charlie Jane posted it on Monday. I'm confused too as to why its making a second appearance by a different author...

I wonder where (black and white) tuxedo cats fall in this study. Because thats what my girl is, and she is the best kitty EVER! Smart, adorable, playful.... No seriously, she won best cat in the universe award not long ago.

Why is this being posted again? The exact same article (by different author) went up Monday.

I'm not a huge fan of Ritter, but she was surprisingly good in "Breaking Bad." Maybe she is a better dramatic actor than comedy....something I'd run with if I were her.

The "Terrible Two-Faced Tabby" is clearly two-bodied, not two faced.

Good Lord these are good! I did a 2 month safari in Africa few years ago and thought I had some killer photos through sheer proximity to the animals, but the dynamics, clarity, and almost painterly composition of some of these is astounding.

I agree. I cant stand Sarah Silverman or her annoying little girl voices. I understand the character IS an annoying little girl....which might make her appropriate. But no less annoying.

I love how the "results" are so broad as to be meaningless ("government professional?" wtf) and then thrown in there for good measure is the extremely specific "Human Resources Benefits Coordinator." I'll take these findings with a grain of salt, thanks.

It was pretty, in a generic hazy light sort of way, but it didnt do it for me. Maybe it was the soundtrack, which was way to heavy on the ambient-with-grinding-metal-FX thing (if that makes sense) which has overstayed its welcome in short films.

Or to buy a movie that comes in multiple formats is to cut up your money. You are assuming that everyone, like yourself, has some use for multiple formats of a single movie. I can assure you that most do not. For every person that requires a blu ray copy and the ability to play the same movie on mobile devices etc,

I'm so tired of the DVD and Blu Ray together in one package bullshit. If you have a blu ray player, you would care less about the DVD and never even touch it. If you dont, have a blu ray player, you save yourself money by buying a DVD. Honestly, its not like one is a 'bonus' to the other let alone some sort of

The only time I had a successful crane experience was at a plush Pac-Man machine in Vegas. Not only were there two ghosts already lying in the retrieval bin when I walked up, but there was a pac-man himself which only needed to be tipped to fall in. So... 3 toys. 1 dollar. 0 skill. An overwhelming success!

I dunno, it didnt really do it for me. I mean, its a testament of how high end a movie can feel when you have the best cameras, cinematographers, editors, and sound designers, but ultimately it felt pretty lacking. I love the concept of genetically engineered and grown meats, and the implications of such, but this
