@kung fu lola: In theory this is true, but in reality, I wouldn't take that chance. If you take something fairly common in the population like cystic fibrosis. Say the mother is a carrier and happens to pass it on to both her children. Then there's a 25% chance that the resulting baby would have cystic fibrosis.

meh. it's absurd. ultimately i decided not to go to medical school (in favor of pursuing a career as a genetic counselor), but my bf is a med student, and more than half the students in his class are women. having an MD seems to be the gold standard, and pretty soon there will be more female doctors in than male.

@ilovedavelister: i think it depends on what kind of reduction she had. i would bet they removed some or most of the glands. so it shouldn't come back anything like this. i think there are also meds that can prevent it from getting worse.
