I tried GeekTool. Since I never actually see my desktop (I just keep all my windows set to fill the screen- and I keep dozens of windows open) I never got much out of it.

This is an idiotic comparison. It's like asking if Dell is ready to start competing with NBC.

Yeah, this is a great plugin. I've been using this since I dropped Camino.

bubi73: Oh, that explains it. The one thing I wanted to automate (opening a series of tabs) is something it doesn't support. But maybe I'll throw in a few to automate form filling.

Wait, iMacros actually works? I d/led it and gave that a shot last week, only to discover that behavior was seemingly random and nonsensical. I'd "record" a macro and discover that it didn't record what I did _at all_.

Is there any way in Greasemonkey to find out the URL of the site you're looking at? Because if so, it strikes me as pretty easy to generalize this to all the Gawker sites. I only follow this one and Gizmodo, but I hate seeing a limited solution.

Time's really the most important, but it's nice to be able to spend that time however you want- which is where the money comes in.

I dunno... having had that feature in OSX for awhile, I haven't found it to be all that useful. But then again, I tend to remember where I put things, and don't need to search all that often.

I think the best solution is supervision. Addys that aren't given out publicly don't garner much spam, so just clean their box for them, and don't worry about it. Email with them- make it a family activity.

Meh, it's nice to have the weather with a simple slide to the bottom corner of my monitor. Same for a calendar. Those are the only widgets I use.

Ideal? Roll out of bed after 10, spend the next six hours on a programming binge, and play the day away. (play includes practical productive activities like cooking)

I have a very different approach to my inbox- no mail I need to read ever _reaches_ my inbox. Using Gmail filters, wife stuff goes to one label, work stuff to another, friends to another, band stuff to another. Anything that ends up in my inbox is newsletters, stupidly-subscribed-for spam, and other such

One of us. One of us. One of us.

VI supports CSS. So does Notepad, if you want to get real technical about it. And let me add- Dreamweaver's CSS capabilities are pretty poor (by my estimation).

See, being all QS vetran-y, I was all, "Oh, I can just do this without reading that little MacWorld tutorial." Doh.

Huh... for whatever reason, I can't get to "Current Application." Time to explore my QS settings and see what the problem is.

Personal experience- juggling is both easy and fun. It's much easier if you start by using something moderately heavy (not bowling ball heavy, more like bottle of water heavy) because it's less sensitive to little variances in how you throw and catch. Something easy to catch is good too- but I've had bad luck with

Oh, one other thing to add- the whole "online predator" thing is a _very_ overblown threat. Sure, if one targets your child the potential damage is enormous. But the likelihood of such an event occurring is very, very small. Alert, aware, and self-assured children are even less vulnerable. Children who are comfortable

I am currently childless, but my child-hood is not too long ago, and I've worked extensively with children- including teaching them how to use the Internet.
