Highly do-able. Pretty easy to take all of your gear and drive up to a primitive campsite and then pack it all back out. Plenty of places like Big Bend National park have primitive campsites that require you to have high clearance and 4x4 capabilities to get to them.

I think Ford is making a bigger statement here too, in that they arent countering anything Chevy makes. Chevy doesnt make any offroad SUV and Ford knows it. The Blazer Sport is competing with the Cherokee like you said, and Chevy is so far our of that market Ford isnt even paying attention to them.
