I think the issue with any cheap modern car would be that they are not designed for off pavement driving. A long race over even slightly rough terrain has me thinking an important bracket or control arm will break and leave you stranded.

Looks better to my eye, too. Dont try and Church up a Camaro.   Accent colors, gold trim, brash wheels are all good. Lean into the white trash and enjoy being able to shed some of your responsibilities for a little while.
